NATIVE SEED PILOT PROJECT

New for 2026, this is a pilot project to distribute locally-collected native seeds for free at events and through the Seed Library at the Almonte Branch of the Mississippi Mills Library starting in March. (Please direct all questions to us and not to the library).

Our 2026 Seed List is below. The seeds provided in this pilot project are native to Ontario, as determined by VASCANSeedlings for many of these seeds (and more!) will also be available to purchase at our Spring and Fall Plant Sales. Each seed packet includes plant and growing information, plus a QR code to the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library Plant Catalogue for even more detailed growing information.

This pilot project was inspired by the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library to make native plant seeds easily available to the public in our community.

Members can order seeds (up to 2 packets per variety) through the adhsmailbox@gmail.com and arrange for pick-up in Almonte. Community members can pick up seeds starting in March at the Almonte Branch of the Library when they open their Seed Library. We'll also be handing out seeds at events, like the Lanark County Seedy on March 14th.

NOTE: Quantitites are limited and we may run out at any time.

Some seeds packets include the number of days that the seeds must be exposed to cold and moist conditions to germinate. You can stratify your seeds with the increasingly popular winter sowing technique, inside your refrigerator or directly outdoors in the fall.

Some seed packets may include extra plant material (i.e., chaff) that didn't get removed when we 'cleaned' the seeds.

Don' worry - it won't affect the germination.
